Trade agreements

EU Trade Agreements
Curacao, as a member of the Dutch kingdom, benefits from the European Community’s preferential trade agreement with its Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs).

  • Most products can be exported to the EU duty-free (certain conditions apply).

The government is currently analyzing the potential benefits of a closer relationship with the EU under the Ultra Peripheral Status.

Caribbean Basin Agreements
Curacao also benefits from the unilateral preferential tariff treatment granted by the United States to 24 beneficiary countries in the Caribbean basin.

  • Most goods produced in a CBI country will receive duty-free treatment upon entering the US market (certain criteria apply).

Curaçao is also a member (associate) of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), an observer in the Caribbean Common Market (CARICOM) and a member of the World Trade Association (WTO). As negotiations for the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) proceed, Curaçao is striving to intensify trade with the Western Hemisphere.
