CTB awareness campaign Dushi Hende.

February 15, 2012

WILLEMSTAD — Entirely in the Valentine atmosphere, Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) launched their awareness campaign ‘Ta dushi pa ta dushi hende’ yesterday. “It is highly important to focus on what makes our island unique compared to other countries and the tourist board promotes the island as a unique destination with an extensive history, where ‘dushi’ (beautiful) people live”, according to CTB in their three promotion films for this campaign. The tourist bureau lists the characteristics of the local population: “Friendly people, customer-oriented, honorable, honest, responsible, proud of their job and dedicated to the development of their beautiful island. In a nutshell, people who make tourists feel at home.” The promotion films show three different settings: a hotel employee from the housekeeping department performing her duties for the hotel guest with a radiant smile; a tour guide, who is known by many on the island as the cheerful driver of the Loko-Loko bus [translation: Crazy bus - editor], giving tourists a tour of the island in a tropical colored jeep, and a chef supervising his staff and the cooking process in a bustling kitchen and subsequently proudly preparing a dish.

“The chief purpose of the national campaign is to increase the awareness of the importance of treating each other and tourists. The CTB wants to emphasize the values of our ‘dushi people’. The campaign was designed to acquaint people with the positive character of the population. The promotion spots will be broadcasted on the radio and TV, and published in local newspapers”, said the tourist bureau.
